On 11 October we’ll be joining industry and academic leadership at HBCU Stillman University to speak at a Cyber Panel hosted by Dr. Kevin Harris the Chair, Math & CS and Cyversity nonprofit regional director.

Dr. Harris has a long history of supporting diversity in STEM fields. As a professor, he has raised the bar at Stillman on expectations of Math majors and he pioneered and founded their new CS program. As a regional director of nonprofit Cyversity he has supported hundreds of women, minorities, and veterans choose to pursue STEM via connection with mentors, training and networking events, and engagement with industry and academia. https://www.linkedin.com/in/harris-kevin/

Also attending is Google’s Chief Diversity Officer, Melonie Parker. She is very dynamic and has made impacts across our industry. I don’t know her (yet!) but looking at her LinkedIn profile makes me eager to learn from her! https://www.linkedin.com/in/melonieparker/

We look forward to engaging with Stillman College again - this will be the third event we’ve attended there. Stillman is a small school with big impact. Its students are very interested in and capable of joining the modern STEM workforce. At past events, the students challenged us with interesting questions and insightful comments. We are pleased to interact with these amazing students and faculty again.

METT Scholars is grateful to Dr. Harris, Stillman College, and our sponsors for making our attendance with students possible. The only way to grow STEM diversity in our nations is to participate in the dialogue. This is in-line with our Vision and serves to expose our beneficiaries to the professions. Having our underrepresented students attend events like these impact them in so many ways - it helps show them and those they meet that this is a shared struggle and their hard work is meaningful to so many others.

We rely on your donations to sponsor students attending and making impacts at future STEM events. Please consider donating generously.

See you at Stillman on 11 October from 12-2 PM Central!
