METT Scholars Presented to National Leaders

On 23 February, METT Scholars attended and presented at the West Point LEADS Diversity in STEM conference hosted by the US National Archives and attended by dozens of Congressional Staffers, Federal Senior Executives, General Officers, university Presidents, and over one hundred STEM-major interested students from 7 states.

METT Scholars’ partners West Point LEADS and Cyversity also attended. The national and colligate leaders spoke of the need to increase R&D funding to HBCU and Service Academies in order to draw more professorial talent to HBCU thereby increasing the value proposition of the education for the historically disadvantaged students. Further, HBCU tend to matriculate a far higher percentage of students eligible to do sensitive work in the US as compared to major State and Private schools. Increased R&D funding to HBCU will benefit both the communities they serve and the Nation as a whole.
